Personal Statement

My mother is a person that has truly impacted my life. She has gone through so much and has overcome so many battles. For her life hasn't been easy since her childhood and it only inspires me to see that she has made it.

She is a teacher by profession but she decided to take up another profession. She was really intrigued by the medical field and decided that she wanted to be part of it. How many women at the age 50 would want to go back to school and start afresh? Probably just a handful. This made me appreciate and have the out most respect for my loving mother. The did not doubt herself and believed that she could easily succeed.

She made me realize that school is important and that it's never too late to go back to school. She reads with such pride and passion, and she is proud of what she does. The look in her eyes when she graduated was a look I'll never forget. A look that said, with determination and perseverance anything is possible. I've carried on living by that and thank my mom endlessly for being my role model.

I truly do love her and thank her from the bottom of my heart. She is my wonder woman, my super woman, my everything.

Residence Life with Summer Scholars

Week number two was fun. I had the opportunity to live in the dorms at Scotts Residence hall. I wasn't too sure how this experience would be like when i first got there. I wondered if I was going to get along with all the other students and the RA's. I could only do nothing but wait and find out.

I got to the dorms and found out I was living on the first floor in room 220C. I already knew who my roomates were and i thought they were pretty cool. I got there and met up with everyone. They were all excited and seemed really open. I said to myself "sweet, lets do this". After unpacking,we got ready to go on our field trip to Ashland.

Ashland was fun and the high rope courses helped get more confident. I realized I could overcome my fear of heights. This made me happy and the second time we went it was like I had done it before. The food in the dorms was good and you could get as much as you wanted. this was one of my favorite things to do, EAT EAT EAT!!!!

This dorm experience taught me how to manage time, interact with others and be responsible. It was truly a fun week!
